Cottington Woods Lyrics:

[Prologue]
(These stanzas are the same every event)

Once up on a time in the middle of the woods, lay the
stones of cottington, where the
old way wandered and the wolves did hunt, and the
fair folk had their fun.

Then one day a man came by.
Cleared the trees, hung a tavern sign.
People settled in as time went by, 'round the
house at Cottington.

[Chorus (sung after every verse)]

Here's a tale about how a
Stone, in the wood, became a house, became a town
Cause the world shakes every day
But the homes were built to stay. So roll the
Dice, make a move, don't hold back and don't regret
Cause we're living in the choices that we make

[Verses - see below)]

[Epilogue (ends each singing)]

Once upon a time in the middle of the woods
Sat the town of Cottington
Where the old ways wandered and the fell wolves howled
And the Fair Folk had their fun

Where the folk were strong and made their peace
Neighbors to the wilder beasts
Fought wolves and trees and darker things
To survive in Cottington

Here's a tale about how a
Stone, in the wood, became a house, became a town
Cause the world shakes every day
But the homes were built to stay. So roll the
Dice, make a move, don't hold back and don't regret
Cause we're living in the choices that we make

Here's a tale about how a
Stone, in the wood, became a house, became a town
Cause the world shakes every day
But the homes were built to stay. So roll the
Dice, make a move, don't hold back and don't regret
Cause we're living in the choices that we make

[Verses]
[(These vary from event to event. What happened last event is sung at the next event's opening)]

[From Cottington Woods 1]

But the Old Wood wept at the swing of ev'ry blade
so it pressed the folk in tight
It woke up the trees to steal away the road, and the
wolves closed in to fight

Then a Fairy came to teach
a spell to save the people's home.
Four plants sown to heal the breach
o'er the house at Cottington.

(chorus)

Five priests passed on a pilgrimage
with holy tales to share
but a shadow crept in close behind
and truth was twisted there

The folk tracked down each truth and tale
healed the frayed and twisted ends
bound the book and chased the shade
from the house at cottington

(chorus)

Kingsman Edward, frostwroth slain
Muse and mountain, fire and rogue
All mayhem, bound to Jester lord
To kill, till paid in 7 souls

Then the folk unbound the horde
Freedom to each slave restored
Then death to deathless Fairy lord
Brought death to Cottington.

(chorus)

An ancient tale just halfway told
Locked, and buried save for one
They dug it up and picked the lock
and the sun went down at Cottington.

Cause heroes rescue those in need,
free them from captivity
They saved the elder ones indeed
now they must save Cottington.

(chorus)

A wedding ring for the the farraway king
So ardent towards his love.
but the bride was a queen of the darker things
In the depths of Cottington.

The folk saw through with sight so keen
The charm of that vicious fairy queen
They checked her fatal checkmate scheme
and the King bowed to cottington.

(chorus)

Sandmen sail the twilight sea
To harvest stranger tides
But nev'r stare deep into the sleep
Lest it darkly pool your eyes

Oh the nightmares crept across the wood
From the wayward dreamer's blackened hood
In the end they cast her back to sea
Far away from Cottington.

(chorus)

A mended child with dreams so wild
They split the truth in twain
And truth, unbranded unwound truth
Unraveled name by name

The folk thought to rebend the child
And wind their fast unraveling names
They buried her unwanted truth
By driving her insane

(chorus)

Once upon a time in the middle of the wood
Sat the town of Cottington
Where the old ways wandered and the fell wolves howled
and the fairies had their fun

Where the folk were strong and made their peace
Neighbors to the wilder beasts
Fought wolves and trees and darker things
To survive in Cottington

[Verses From Cottington Woods 1]

[(Prequel 1; Sep 2021)]

The white winds blew and the land grew cold
In the woods of Cottington
The Snowflake Queen cried victory
And Summer was undone!

The people pledged to save their home
Though heroes they weren’t born to be
To find the source of winter’s grip
And bring warmth to Cottington

(chorus)

[(Prequel 2; Oct 2021)]

To save their friends our heroes braved
Doors deep and pirates high
By Chance or Luck their paths had crossed
When the ship fell from the sky

They entered then the Snowflake Land
And turned the spell upon itself
The Snowflake Queen and her castle fell
To the folk of Cottington

(chorus)

[(Event 1; May 2022)]

Love can be a fickle thing when
summer's halfway through
A little magic goes awry and you're
loving someone new

But the people of the wood set right
the love that bloomed midsummer night
A wedding or two brought some happy light
to the town of Cottington

(chorus)

When The Story Is Done (Tales from the Cotting House theme song)

Sheet Music

Lyrics:

Follow me, oh follow me
Fairy or firelight I don't know
Halfway between where I have been
And where I'm bound to go

So I walk toward this light in the wood
Though I've farther than Farraway to run
But what will unveil, when the sky grows pale
And the story is done.

Once upon a time someone says
As I walk toward the light through the door
There's a story to hear, curious and rare
And never told before

Tired, I knock on the door
Though I'm farther than Farraway bound
But who will I be, at the end of this scene
When the morning comes round.

So I stand by this light in the wood
Though I've farther than Farraway to run
But what will unveil, when the sky grows pale
And the story is done.

Na na na na na…
